Since returning home to San Antonio in 2003 following living abroad in France, and a decade in New York City, Michele has done a little bit of everything to contribute to downtown’s growth. “Every great city needs a great downtown, and I wanted San Antonio to be a place where I wanted to be”. To that end, she’s been a Dean with Awesome SA, a nonprofit that awards monthly grants to community-enhancing projects; she was a co-organizer for PechaKucha, at which locals give informative and humorous presentations of 20 images projected for 20 seconds each; and she’s been a vendor and curator for OPEN, the city’s program that places pop-up boutiques and galleries in vacant downtown storefronts. She supports historic preservation, urban renewal and development and its role working within the community. Michele has dedicated her time to work with Luminaria, Public Space East and Dignowity Hill Neighborhood Association to activate Eastside Neighborhood Communities. She has also worked with The Power of Preservation, Hemisfair and Centro San Antonio assisting with events and fundraisers.

Michele was awarded a “Dreamvoice” Award during Dreamweek for her community work supporting Tolerance, Equality and Diversity. Also an artist, she recently helped curate and create artwork for The Kennedy, a new development in partnership with Brooks.  Michele currently serves on the SA2020 Board of Directors.
