Interior Design Adviser
Kai Thompson
Kai Thompson has worked as a designer for the last six years, spending most of that time designing learning environments for public schools around south Texas. She began her design career as a student at the University of Texas at San Antonio and sought involvement with the industry through membership in the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Kai held a leadership position on the local IIDA council for several years, and she has served as a panelist for various events. In 2020, Kai earned her NCIDQ certification and obtained her professional designation as a Registered Interior Designer from the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. Prior to pursuing her career in design, she obtained her first degree in Biology while working as a biomedical research scientist. This experience has contributed to her unique perspective and approach to solving design problems. She has a passion for the neuropsychology of human behavior, evidence-based design, and building material technologies. She enjoys balancing pragmatism and creativity to develop solutions for enhancing the human experience, applying these strategies to workplace and healthcare projects at The Dawley Group and various projects with her new firm Carrot & Honey Interior Design.
